Hyrox Training in Reno
Reno's only Hyrox-branded gym. First mover, no competition, and we're not slowing down.
You won't find another gym in this city built around Hyrox the way we are. Not a CrossFit box that added a Hyrox class. Not a big-box gym with a Hyrox poster on the wall. Alpine Powerhouse was built for this — functional strength, engine, and the exact movement patterns the race demands.
What Is Hyrox — And Why Reno Athletes Are Obsessed With It
Hyrox is 8 rounds of a 1km run paired with a functional fitness station — sled pushes, sled pulls, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer's carries, sandbag lunges, wall balls. It rewards people who are strong and have an engine, which is exactly the kind of training most Reno gyms don't build.
If you're a trail runner who's never touched a barbell, or a lifter who gasses out at mile two, Hyrox will find the gap in your training. That's where we come in.
How We Train For It
Our Hyrox programming isn't a bolt-on to regular class — it's built race-back. Every block blends:
Strength work that transfers directly to sled pushes, carries, and lunges — not just "get big," but "get strong in the positions Hyrox punishes"
Engine-building conditioning using the same interval structure and movement-to-run pairing you'll see on race day
Race-simulation sessions so the first time you feel an 8-round format isn't on the actual race floor
Coach-led scaling — whether this is your first Hyrox or your fifth PR attempt, the work meets you where you are
Built By Someone Who Understands Engine
Alpine Powerhouse was founded by a former wildland firefighter and collegiate athlete — someone who's spent real time being strong under fatigue, not just strong on paper. That background shapes every block we write: strength before conditioning, work capacity that holds up when you're gassed, and programming built for people who show up for a real physical test, not just a workout.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Hyrox experience to start? No. Most of our members start with zero race background. We scale every station to your current fitness and build you toward race-readiness.
Is this only for people training for an actual Hyrox event? No — a lot of our members train the Hyrox style purely for the fitness benefit: real strength paired with real endurance. If you eventually want to race, the base is already built.
How is this different from CrossFit? CrossFit is broad, varied, and unpredictable by design. Hyrox training is specific — same 8 stations, same run distance, same format — so the programming is built to make you faster and stronger at exactly that test, not general fitness.
Where do you train? 903 E 4th Street, Reno, NV 89512 — indoor strength and conditioning space, with outdoor terrain work worked into programming when it fits the block.
